Motherhood and Work; Vocation, Calling, and Inner Peace
March 25th, April 29th, and May 6th | 12:00pm-1:15pm
This workshop will be offered both in person, and via Zoom. For those attending in person, lunch will be served.
In our current cultural moment, where one is invited to the ambitious task of choosing one's meaning, it can feel like Motherhood is ours to construct, define, and create. What can feel freeing at first proves to evolve into an arduous task with no real ending, no real peace. On the contrary, it can feel like women swim in an ocean saturated in a plethora of choices, voices and opinions all confidently portraying the way. As a result Mothers can feel the meaning of their motherhood to be shallow, isolated, contradicting and lacking nourishment.
This learning group will allow for women to explore and engage in a deeper way the why and purpose of their lives/vocations as Mothers. A woman's passions, work, and contributions outside of the home can also be a place of isolation, vulnerability, and undernourishment. Women often lack the mentorship and time/space to explore shifting interests, desires, and callings in their work life. Their outside pursuits can feel in conflict with their motherhood.
This learning group will offer dedicated space to explore one's work/volunteer vocations outside of the home and to discuss ways to integrate and nourish both facets of life, striving for peace instead of frenzy, a full and dynamic life instead of just a busy one. When these facets of womanhood are not in opposition to each other and properly supported, they can soar. This group will delve into how this can be possible.
